<br />RECLAMATION PLAN <br />The planned end use of the subject property will be the restoration <br />of a portion of the site for use as commercial or industrial <br />development and the remaining portion to be used as wildlife <br />habitat and recreational purposes. <br />Approximately 28 acres of the mined area will be backfilled to an <br />elevation corresponding with the current elevations. The remaining <br />area will be predominately a lake that impounds ground water, and <br />a wetlands area that will be situated in the extreme western , <br />portion of the site. ,y <br />'r~'I <br />The area that will be filled will be compacted'in such a manner,,~/ ,( <br />that~t-w~Tr-be adequate for industrial or commercial development. ~ !~~ I ' <br />The area that results in a lake will be provided with slopes that as*'``~~,~, <br />are backfilled and graded to no greater than 3:1 slopes. The area ~ !,. <br />at the west end of the site will be backfilled and graded to a 10;1 ~,'; <br />slope with the intention that it will result in becoming a wetlands <br />area adjacent to the Walker Wildlife Area. The affected area will i <br />be revegetated according to the recommendations of the U.S. Natural <br />Resource Conservation Service. <br />The excavated slopes will be provided with 6" to 8" of topsoil <br />According soil surveys t ah~ave been conducted for this <br />area, the quality of the soil is quite poor and is not conducive to <br />cultivation and has severe limitations as far as vegetative <br />rehabilitation is concerned. <br />`~ declamation will be conducted concurrently with mining activities <br />in that the slopes will be backfilled, graded, and plated with <br />topsoil as mining is done. With regard to the Division of Wildlife <br />recommendations, after an area has been mined, backfilled, graded <br />and plated with topsoil, the portion of that slope above that will <br />be reseeded in order to minimize erosion, discourage weeds and to <br />get a start on developing some wildlife habitat. <br />As mining is completed and reclamation efforts are completed, the <br />bridge across the Appleton Drain Ditch, to the east of the subject <br />site, will be removed and the area will be rehabilitated to comply <br />with this Reclamation Plan and to the satisfaction of the Grand <br />Junction Drainage District. <br />6 ~~~ ~ 2.1995 <br />- J~ ~, ~ \~et~\5 ~ Geo~o9Y <br />~,:;,,~ <br />
