<br />PROJECT DESCRIPTION <br />Backgrround <br />I, The purpose of this application is to obtain authorization for Northern Colorado Canstrudors Inc. ,Aggregate <br />Division (NCCI) to mine, process and sell sand and gravel and to operate a concrete batch plant at property owned <br />by NCCI in Weld County, Colorado. The operation shall be known as NCCI Pit #1. This appliption proposes io <br />permit approxitately 102 acres with approximately 73 acres being mined. Please see the attached area map to see <br />the location of the proposed operation <br />I~ <br /> <br />Ezisting Condifions <br />This site consists of pasture land with several old meander stream beds through the site. The site is very flat sloping <br />very gently to the northeast The site is poorly vegetated with poor grass and noxious weeds. <br />There is a significant commercial deposit of sand and gravel located in the alluvium of the South Platte River on this <br />property. The South Platte River lies approximately 2200 feet east of the site. The Meadow Island Ditch #1 is <br />located along the west boundary of [he site and a discharge ditch from Sand Hill Reservoir lies along the south <br />boundary. According to the Federal Emergency Management Agency flood insurance rete map panel number <br />080266 0868 C & 0866C the entire site is m the 100 yeaz flood of the South Platte River, There are three gas wells <br />on the property and one tank battery serving two of the wells. <br />Adjacent land uses include irrigated agriculture land to the north, pastue land to the west, pasture land and a tree <br />farm to the east and pasture land and several homes to the south. The site is bounded on the east by Weld County <br />Road 25 and on the south by Weld County Road 18. The existing structures on the site will be removed at the proper <br />time so as to not interfere with the mining process, At the completion of the project Ne res7rlting ponds, afrer <br />reclamation, will be used for water storage. <br />NCCI Mining Proposal jor the NCCI Pit # 1 <br />
