EXHIBIT I -SOILS INFORMATION
(1) In consultation with the Soil Conservation Service or other qualified person, indicate on a
map (in Ezhibit C) or by a statement the general type, thickness and distribution of soil over
the affected land.
Test borings drilled February 28, May 23, 24, and June 6, 2002, indicate a layer of
overburden ranging from two to five feet in depth. Clean river gravel is found under the
overburden with a thickness ranging from 10' to 40'. The underlying bedrock in this area is
most likely the Fox Hills Sandstone. The Fox Hills Sandstone is approximately 300 to 500
feet thick in the project area. The Upper Transition Member of the Pierre Shale is also
mapped nearby and may underlie parts of the site. The Upper Transition Member of the
Pierre Sjrale is approximately 2,000 feet thick in this area.
Please refer to the following summary logs of exploratory drillings and descriptions of soil
types (in Exhibit J) for further details.
Hall-Irwin Corporation Bernhardt Resource Page 27 of 41
MLRB 112 Permit Apptication
