• 2.04.9(b)
The pH of the soils sampled during June 1992 ranged
from 7.1 to 8.6 all within an acceptable range. The electrical
conductivity of the soils which ranged from 0.36 to 1.49 are all in
the low range and indicate little salinity damage may be expected.
The sodium adsorption ratios which range from 4.08 to 16.66 are
medium, with the one sample showing in the high range. This sample
is from the C horizon of soil unit 1.
(c) A Soil Classification Map is enclosed as Drawing No.
112. The applicant intends to salvage the A and H horizon from
each soil unit within the disturbed area. The C horizon, where
present, will be salvaged only after confirmation that the SAR
value for the horizon is 15 or less.
(d) The information presented in Exhibit 7 and discussed
above indicates that the C horizon of soil units 1B and 1 are
marginal to unsuitable plant growth media because of high sodium
adsorption ratio. However by mixing the C horizons with the A and
B horizons, the sodium adsorption ratio of the composite soil will
be well below the unsuitable limit of 15.
(e) A discussion of present and potential productivity
of soils is included above in the soil map unit descriptions.
•
•
2.04-27 July 1992
