Soil Erodibili ty Factor ("k" factor). The soil erodi bility factor indicates a soils •
susceptibility to erosion and infiltration capacity. This factor is dependent upon the
infiltration characteristics of the various soil types and the type and amount of
vegetation. Soil survey maps and results, as contained in Tab 9 of this application,
provided the basis for determining the "k" factor. Table 2 contains "k" factors for
various soil types in the permit area.
TABLE 2
SENECA II-W MINE SOILS INFORMATION(1)
JANUARY, 1989
Soil Type
or Area (2) Hydrologic
Soil Croup(3) Erodibility (k)
Fac tor(4)
2VD, 2VE C 0.26
4D D 0.18
SA D 0.23
78, 7C C 0.31
46B, 46C, 46D C 0.22 •
V46D C 0.25
XBD, XBE, XBF B 0.25
106, 10C, 10D D 0.25
11C, 11D D 0.27
12C, 12D, 12E C 0.25
27A B 0.25
28A B 0.26
33D C 0.24
34C, 34D, 34E, 34F B 0.24
3SC, 35D, 35E D 0.24
SOC, SOD C 0.23
VSOD C 0.26
53C, 53D, 53E, 53F B 0.26
62C, 62D 8 0.15
66D, 66E, 66F B 0.25
70D B 0.28
99 C 0.08 •
101 C 0.08
53-1-6
