Timlog and Fae[on iv Control: The herbicidal responx of mesquite h strongly influenced by rnvimwrnml conditions es well es foliage condition and stage of growth. For
is applied in umbvutioo with RMaim, widrin 60 days. Product performance maybe adversely eRemed if appliudov is made before mesquite foliage has mined from light m
dark green or it folage has bee injured or removed by late frost, insects, hail or plan[ disease. Do not apply if mesquite exhibits new (light grew) growth in response m
significant rainfall during the growing xamn. Soil tempttamrcs a1 the 12-16 inch depth may vary with soil mxmre and dttiuge. Coarse-texmrcd (sandy) soils warm up sooner
then fine-texmttd soils (clay) soils and dry soils warm up more quickly than wet soils.
Re-spp8eatioa: Do not rcappty in Ne same growing season. Retreamirnt will not 6e effective undl woody plants develop sutticient new foliage for interception, uptake, and
Seeding to Permanent Grasses, Including Conservation Reserve Progran
(CRP) Acres
Newly Seeded Grasses:
Tordon 22K should be applied only after perennial grosses arc well establisher
az indicated by development of a good secondary root system and vigorom
growth. Most perennial grosses show improved mleance to the post emergence
applications at this amge of development.
For best insults, apply m actively growing weeds in a spiny volume of 2 m
more gallons of water per acre by air or 5 or more gallons of water per acre b)
ground. Refer to the weeds rote than for information on target weed species an<
application rates.
Perennial Broadleaf Weeds: Apply Tordon 22K to actively growing pcrennia:
broadlut weeds at up to 2 pints per acre after the gross is well umblished. Hfsk
of Bass injury is greatest when using the maximum of 2 plat pct acrc rate.
Avnusl Broadleaf Weeds: Apply Tordon 22K at 4. to 4r pin[ per acre m actively
growing susceptible annual broadleaf weeds, (including Russian thisde). Tordon
22K can also be mnk mixed with 4 to ]pound ae per acrc of 2,4-D where
2,4-D sensitive species are preent. Read and follow all directions for use and
use precautions on other product labels.
Weed Control Prior to Seeding Cool Season Perennial Creases: Weed control
with Tordon 22K fits into gass re-vegetation progams where perennial ange
or reclamation grass species ere to be esablished in non-cropland, angeland,
permanent grass pastures, or CRP areas. Tordon 22K may be applied in the spring
or early summer, depending on the target weed species, and gross seed planted
in the fall when conditions art favombie for gross establishment Alternatively,
Tordon 22K may be applied in the fall and gross seed planted in the winter or
spring when conditions arc favombie for gross esmblishment.
Apply Tordon 22K at I gUacre or less. Refer to the weeds rote chart for information
on mrget weed species and application rotes. When Tordon 22K is applied at
] gUacre there may be temporary injury to new plantings of certain perennial
gass species, depending on sensitivity. However, tempoary gross injury will be
mom than offset by the benefits to gasses due to decreased weed competition.
Gcrminatioo of annual gross species may be suppressed after vestment.
To optiroiu weed control it is suggested the application are be dismfied as little
az possible by the seeding operation. After application, the site should be ]eft
undisnubed for a minimum of-14 days prior to seedbed preparation or seeding.
Potential for injury to sensitive gals species can be decreased by increasing the
interval between application and seeding opcations.
Preuudons:
• Do no[ use Tordon 22K if legumes am a desired cover during CRP.
• Conditions that stress grasus, such as droughS will increase potential for injury
to the gross at all stages of growth.
• Do not rotate to groin sorghum (milo) if greater than 1 pint per acre of Tordon
22K has been applied. Do not plant grain sorghum within 8 months after
application. This product is not intended for use on land planted to sweet
sorghum.
• To reduce potential damage to subsequent small grain crops or grain
sorghum (milo), use the lower etc or discontinue the use of Tordon 22K at
least 2 years prior to the seeding of small gain crops. After CRP, do not plan[
broadleaf crops in treated acres until an adequately sensitive bioassay shows
that no detecmble picloam is present vt the soil.
• Tordou 22K at sites over 2 pints per acrc may suppress certain established
grosses such az bromegass, bluegamma and buffalogass. Bowen<r, subse-
quent grass growth should be improved by release from weed competition.
Spring Seeded Barley, Oats, and Wheat No[ Uvderseeded with Legumes
• Not for use on landlhal is Baod or sub irrigated or rotated to broadleaf
crops.
• Do~not apply to winter wheat or barley as crop injury may occur.
• Do not treat durum wheat since some varieties of durum wheat may be
injured.
Use Tordon 22K for the control of susceptible annual broadleaf weeds such as
(but not limited m) volunteer sunflower, wild buckwheat, lambsquaners, pigweed,
Russian thistle, and sowthistle. This product may cause shorter stew on some
varieties of cereals but groin yields are usually not affected.
Use Restrictions
• Use only on land that will be planted the following year to grass, barley, oats,
what, gain sorghum (milo) or followed. Do not plant gain sorghum within 8
months after application. This product is not intended for use on land planted
to sweet sorghum.
• Do not apply Tordon 22K within 50 days before harvest.
• Do not gran or feed foage from veatcd arcs for 2 weeks after trutrncnt. Do
not harvest hay from treated gain fields.
• Do not apply more than 1 Yr fluid ounces of Tordon 22K per acre during the
small gain growing season.
Broadcast Treatment (Ground and Aerial Applications)
Tordon 22K can be applied as a single broadcast treatment 6y ground or aerially
to control seveal broadleaf wceds by itself or as a tank mix with 2,4-D, MCPA,
or sulfonylurca herbicides such as A]ly. Apply Tordon 22K at [he ores suggested
m the following table in 2 to 5 gallons of water per acre by air or in 5 m 20
gallons of water per acre by ground. The addition of surfactants may aid control
under dry conditions, but may cause injury to groin if used over the top. Read
and follow directions and precautions on other product labels when mnk mixing.
Application Timing
Spring Wheat, Barley and Oats: Apply from the 3 to 5 luf stage to early
jointing singe of growth as indicated in the mble below. Applications at the 3 to
S leaf stage occasionally cause slight head malformations and straw shortening
rot normally do no[ affect yield.
