buffalogmss. Apply PLATEAU herbicide immediately after planting prior to
spring growth or seed germination. New growth and small seedlings can be
severety injured or killed. If apptying after emergence it is best to wait until
buffalogmss has at leas[ five tine leaves and use a nonionic or silicone surfacmn4
Do not use a methylated seed oil. For established stands, PLATEAU herbicide
may be applied at the rote of 2 to 8 ozJA for weed control Higher rotes may
cause some mrf discoloration and smndng. PLATEAU herbicide may be applied
to dormant buffalogmss m control winter annual weeds. Turf type buffalogmss
may express different mlemnce level to PLATEAU herbicide than wild type
buffalogmss. Some mrf types can mlemm low rates of PLATEAU herbicide at
seeding. Consult seed dealer for dcmils.
Eastern Gamagrass: PIr1TEAU herbicide should only be used for dte estab-
lishment or maintenance of casmm gamagmss if some smnd thinning or loss can
be rolemted. Apply PLATEAU herbicitle at 2 m 6 oz per acre at planting prior to
gamagrass emergence. Smmd thinning and smnting is hnminenl Adveru condi-
tions, poor soils, or added stress m the gamagmss could result in stand mortabry.
Pos[emergence application [o seedlings will cause mortality. On esablished east-
ern gamagmss, apply PLATEAU herbicide at 2 to 8 oz per acre prior to gamagmss
breaking dormancy. Some smnting will occur and increascs as the PLATEAU
herbicide tale increascs. Applications made during or afar green-up may result
in folio' and seedhead suppression and possible mormlity of weak plants.
Tall Fescue Control: loll fescue can be controlled by using PIATEAU herbicide
at the rote of 12 oz per acre plus methylated seed oi] at 2 pints per acre in
esmblishcd stands of or to prepare a seed bed for big bluestem, litde bluestem,
and indiangrass. The addition of Nitrogen fertilizer (sec "SPRAY ADJUVANTS
FOR POSTEMERGENCE APPLICATIONS" section) m the above mite will aid
in control. Tall fescue must be actively growing for optimum control. Ifmll fescue
has reached the boot singe or has reached summer dormancy, wntrol may be poor.
For improved control of tall fescue, PLATEAU herbicide may be rank mixed with
ACCORD, ROUNDUP PRO, or glyphosa[e. Fall applications of PIATEAU
herbicide at 8 to 12 oz/A plus 24 m 64 oz/A ACCORD or ROUNDUP PRO wJl
insult is best control of existing roll fescue and new gemtinating seedlings. Widt
spring app)ications of PLATEAU herbicide at 6 to )2 oz/A, plus a ACCORD or
ROUNDUP PRO at 32 to 64 az/A, use higher rotes for older, mature fescue stands
and lower PLATEAU herbicide rates when planting forts. When using 8 mz/A of
PLATEAU herbicide in the fall with a glyphosate producS it is recommrnded to
apply 4 oz/A PLATEAU herbicide in the spring at planting for annual weed and
seedling fescue control. Burning the fescue stand, where permitted, the following
spring, just prior to green-up, will aid in control and provitle a better seedbed for
planting. Mowing the fescue several times the summer before fall application wi8
weaken the fescue root system, making it more susceptible m herbindes. Ahvays
allow for at least 10 inches of regrowth, following the last mow4ng before spraying,
as both PLATEAU herbicide and glyphosate products need foliage present far
herbicide uptake and satisfactory control.
