BANVEL may be tank mixed with mne or more of the following herbicides fo
control of grasses or additional broadleaf weeds. Reed and follow the label e
each mnk mix product used for precautionary statements, directions for use, rate
and timings, weeds controlled, geographic and other rutricdons.
PERENNIAL weeds may be controlled with lower rates of either BANVEL or
BANVEL plus 2,4-D. See the following RATES AND TIMINGS action.
RATES AND TIMINGS
Application rates and timing of BANVEL are givrn below. Use thv higher Icvel
PASTURE, HAY, RANGELAND, AND GENERAL FARMSTEAD (Non
Cropland)
BANVEL is recommended for use for pasmre, hay, rangeland, general farmstat
(nonoropland) (inclnding fence rows and non-urigation ditchbanks) for broadlea
weed and brash control. BANVEL may also be applied to non-croplaud areas foi
the control of broadleaf weeds N Noxious Weed Control Programs, Districts of
Areas including broadcast or spot treatment of roadsides and highways, utilities
railroad and pipeline rights-of--way. Noxious weeds must be recognized at the
state level but programs may be administered at smte, counTy or other level.
Observe all precautions. Read and follow mixing and application insWCdons.
BANVEL uses described in [his action also pertain m small grains (such as
barley, forage sorghum, oats, rye, sudangrass or wheat) grown for pazmrc use
Holy.
NEWLY SEEDED AREAS, including small grains grown for pasmre may be
severely injured if rates of BANVEL greater than I pinUA arc applied.
ESTABLISHED GRASS CROPS growing undtt stress can exhibit various injury
symptoms that may be more pronounced if herbicides are applied.
Bentgrass, carpetgrass, buffalograss and St. Augustine grass may be injured al
rotes exceeding ]pint BANVEL (Vr ]b a.i.) per treated acre. Usually colonial
brn[gmsus ere more mlerant than creeping types. Velvetgrasses arc most easily
igjured. Tceatmenm will kill or injure alfalfa, clovers, lespedeza, wild winter peas,
vetch and other legumes.
ANIMALS CANNOT HE REMOVED FROM TREATED AREA FOR SLAUGH-
TER PRIOR TO 30 DAYS AFT]R LAST APPLICATION.
THERE IS NO WAITING PERIOD BETWEEN TREATMENT AND GRAZING
FOR NON-LACTATING ANIMALS.
TIMING RESTRICTIONS FOR LACTATING DAIRY ANIMALS FOLLOW-
ING TREATMENT:
mixmrcs.
MIXING AND APPLICATION
BANVEL can be applied using water, oil in water emulsions including invert
systems, or sprayable fluid fertilizer as a carier. A COMPATTBILITY TEST
(see COMPATIBILITY TEST secdon) should be made prior m mnk mixing,
To prepare oil in water emulsions, half-fdl spray mnk with water, then add
appropriate amount of emulsifier. With continuous agimdon, slowly add the
herbicide and then the oil (such az diesel oil ar fuel oil) or a premix of oil plus
addidona] emulsifier to spiny mnk. Complete 511ing of spray tank with water.
Mainmin vigorous agitation during spray operadan to prevent oil and water from
forming uparate layers.
BANVEL may be apphed broadcast using either ground or aerial applicaddn
equipment. When using ground equipment, apply 3 td 600 gallons of diluted
spray per treated acre. Volum< of spray applied will depend on the height,
density, and type of weeds or brush being treamd and on me type of equipmrnt
being used. When using aerial equipment apply 2 to 40 gallons of diluted spray
per eeated acre in a water-based cartitt.
BANVEL may be' applied to individual clumps or smah auras (SPOT TREAT-
MENT) of undesvable vegemtion using handgun or sunilar types of apphcadon
equipment. Apply diluted sprays to allow complete waning (up to ran off) of
foliage and stems.
Herbicide adjuvanm or other spray additives (emulsifiers, surfactanm, wetting
agrnts, drift control agents, or penetrants) maybe used for wetting, pepctration, or
drift control. Spray additives must be agriculturally approvadwhen used in pasmre
applications. If spray additives are used, read and follow all use recommendations
and precautions on product label.
WEEDS CONTROLLED
BANVEL, when applied at recommended rates, will give control of many AN-
NUAL, BIENNIAL, and PERENNIAL broadleaf weeds, end many WOODY
brush and vine species commonly found in pasmre, hay, rangeland, and general
farmstead (non-cropland) areas. (Refer to GENERAL WEED L[ST). Noted (•)
CUT SURFACE TREE TREATMENTS
BANVEL may be applied as a cut surface treatrnent for control of unwanted trees
and prevention of sprouts of cut trees. A mix of 1 part BANVEL with 1 [0 3
parts water should be used in applicadon. Uu the lower dilution when treating
difficult-[o<onwl species.
FRILL OR GIRDLE TREATMENTS: Make a condnuaus mr[ or a series of
overlapping cuts using an axe to girdle tree trunk, Spray or paint cut surface with
the BANVELwater mix.
STUMP TREATMENTS: Spray or paint freshly cut surface with [he water mix.
The area adjacent to the bark should be thoroughly wet.
Note: For more rapid foliar effects, 2,4-D may be added to the BANVEIJwarer
mix.
DORMANT APPLICATIONS FOR CONTROL OF MULTTFLORA ROSE
BANVEL can be applied when plants an: dormant as an undiluted SPOT-
CONCEN7RATE directly to the soil or az a LO-oIL BASAL BARK trcatrnent
using an oil-water emulsion solution.
SPOT-CONCENTRATE applications of BANVEL should be applied directly to
the soil az close as possible to the root crown but wimin 6-8 inches of the crown.
On sloping train, application should be made to the uphill side of the crown. Do
not make application when Snow or water prevents applying BANVEL directly
to me soil The use rate of BANVEL is dependent on [he canopy diameter of the
multiftom rose. Examples: Use BANVEL at „ 1 or 2 Vi fluid ounces of produc
respectively, for 5, 10 or IS feet canopy diameters. Do not exceed a toml of
quarts BANVEL per acre per year.
LO-OIL BASAL BARK applications of BANVEL should be applied to me basal
stem region from the ground line up to a height of 12 to 18 inches. Spray until
mnoff, with special emphasis on covering the root crown. For best resulm, make
ion. All rights reserved.
