Advisory Comments <br />The following concerns were identified during the mid-term review process but <br />o not constitute a problem at this time. Bear Coal Co. is encouraged to <br />~spond to these concerns in a tlmely fashion. Clarification of these issues <br />should facilitate a smoother review of upcoming 5-year permit applications and <br />allow for the collection and submission of better monitoring .data and reports. <br />1. The 1984 Alluvial Well Report exhibits several problems. Samples <br />and-results must clearly show the sample date. Samples are to be <br />preserved by refrigeration and shipped to the lab as soon as <br />possible. Groundwater samples should be properly filtered <br />immediately after the sample is taken. High concentrations of <br />aluminum in some of the sample analyses may be a result of <br />inadequate filtering. <br />2. Bear Coal Company should designate a due date in late winter/early <br />spring for submittal of monitoring data collected in accordance <br />with Stipulations No. 4, 5, and 6 every year. <br />n <br />U <br />
