The remaining <br />fines are derived from the volcanic and metamorphic rocks to <br />the South and East of the pit site. <br />Site Geology <br />The Gunnison Ready Mix pit is adjacent to the north bank of <br />Tomichi Creek and is partially within the floodplain for extreme <br />flood flows. A very thin, flood deposited organic, silty topsoil <br />covers the southern portion of the pit area. This soil is generally <br />less than I foot thick and is absent in the north portion of the <br />pit and in the storage and botching areas. <br />Several wells have been drilled in the vicinity and although the <br />individual drillers' interpretations are rather vague, some <br />conclusions can be arrived at. The deposit is a stratified <br />cobble and boulder complex with very few fines. The deposit <br />thickness is apparently variable and is reported as being as little <br />^s 50 feet to over 100 feet thick. Interpretation of existing <br />data indicates a thickness of 86 to 95 feet of potential aggregate <br />in the existing pit area. <br />Pace 14 of bb <br />
