(303)542-8278
~~~~'~
January 3, 1994
IIIIIIII~~~IIIIIIII
Ms. Ruth Morehead
2623 E. Dale Street
Colorado Springs, CO 80909
Dear i4s. I+IOrehead:
P.O. BOX 533
Your letter to the Division of Minerals and Geology,
concerning the Summit Pressed Brick and Tile's permit
application, has been referred to me for initial response.
This permit would in no way authorize anyone to mine on
your property. The permit will be limited to the property in
Sections 8 and 9 referred to in our application. Summit
Pressed Brick and Tile Company has no rights in the minerals
on or under your land, and therefore could not mine that land
or apply for a permit to mine. Based on our current
projections, the closest any of Summit's operations should
get to you is approximately a third of a mile away.
The other clay pit to the south of your property is
operated by another company, and is currently being mined.
However, that company is also required to reclaim the
property, but cannot do that until they have stopped mining
in a particular area. In our case, we plan to do reclamation
as we go, so that areas where the mining is completed will be
reclaimed even though mining is still taking place.
Again, I want to assure you that this permit
application would in no way allow Summit to touch your land,
and you can certainly confirm that with the Department of
Minerals and Geology if you would like. If you have any
other questions, please feel free to contact me or our
consultant, Buck Barnhart, at 3 Sedum Court, Pueblo, CO
81001, telephone number (719) 543-1324.
Very truly yours,
SUMMIT PRESSED BRICK
AND TILE COMPANY
BY~ ~
Jos C. Welte, President
cc: Mr. Buck Barnhart
Division of Minerals and Geology
THIRTEENTH AND ERIE - PUEBlO, COLORA00 81002
