Levkulich;
Previous pits in this area have successfully been shaped and reclaimed.
Due to the quantities and quality of rip-rap that comes from this area,
I forsee there will always be mining activity in this area.
The upper side of the quarry will be eloped to a 3:1 elope. Before sloping
occurs, salvage all of the available topsoil from the area for later use on
the quarry.
I would suggest that the majority of the topsoil should be used on the 3:1 elopes
and that a leaser amount be used on the pit bottom. The entire area should have
some topsoil in order to insure reclamation success.
large rock still available for some future uae'w111 be pushed to the toe elope
on the west aide of the quarry.
I recommended that the following grasses be used to reclaim the area
~ --
Crass Variety Rate/acre
lJestern wheatgrase Arriba S/k/acre
Intermediate wheatgraes Amui 4~k/acre
Timothy .44/acre
This seed mix was requested by the landowner.
I recommend that the area be seeded in fall of 1985.
The seed should be planted in a firm weed-free seedbed. All drilling
should be done cross elope.
Due [o previous reeults on this same lend I do not feel that fertilizer
or mulch is necessary.
Sincerely, ~-
William Lee Bill
District Conservationist
the Soil Conservation Service SCS-A$-1
i5 nn dgnnry of Ina
