22TG3E33XC and 22TG3E34XC Project Plan
Minor Revision 324
PROPOSED ACCESS ROUTES
The access route for these wells will along the road leading to the 21-O1, 21-02, 21-03
and 21-04 MDW's. This road alignment is depicted on the attached map
PRE-DRILLING ACTIVI"PIES
Construction and drilling activities will be supervised by a project representative of
Mountain Coal Company, L.L.C. Any significant proposed changes in the project after
permit approval would be reviewed with the appropriate regulatory agencies before
changes take effect
Staging areas to be used by the drilling contractor will be used in a manner to minimise
damage to the vegetation. Any surface disturbance to these sites will be re-graded and
seeded to promote rehabilitation.
Access mutes will be maintained to accommodate fiill sized 4X4 pickup trucks, ATVs,
and required drilling equipment, including but not limited to the following: truck
mounted or skid mounted drill rig, air compressors and\or booster, rig-up truck, portable
water tanks, boom truck, utility trailer, drill pipe lay-down rack, and crew trucks.
Roads utilized in the project will be maintained with water bars and appropriate
sedimentation controls as required during the drilling phase. A D9 bulldozer or its
equivalent will be used to prepare the mad for travel and assist in mobilizing the drill
equipment to the drill sites. Additional equipment expected to be used in opening,
maintaining, and reclamation may include arobber-tired backhce, rubber tired grader,
roller compactor and attack-mounted excavator.
Brush removal may occur at the proposed drill sites however, if trees are encountered,
MCC will remove the trees. A drill pad site of approximately 80 ft. x 212 ft. will be
constructed to accommodate the drill equipment and drill cuttings sump or mud pits,
Drill pads will be constructed only as lazge as necessary.
Topsoil will be stripped, stockpiled, and identified with a sign. Stored topsoil will be
placed in a separate pile; the pile will be located outside of drainages and placed in an
area where it will be protected from wind erosion; signs identifying the pile as "Topsoil"
will be placed so as to prevent unintended contamination, compaction or use for other
than reclamation purposes; alternate sediment controls (slash, silt fence or straw wattles)
will be used; and the pile will be seeded in the first seeding season following its
construction using a seed mix that will stabilize emsioa This topsoil will be used in the
reclamation phase of the program.
Use of mud pits on or near the drill pad excavated in native soil. Mud pit dimensions
would be 25' x 25' x 8' to acwmmodate cuttings with 25% swell, the run-0ff associated
with a 0.5 acre drill pad and 10 yeaz, 24-hour storm event and 1-ft of freeboazd. Mud pit
designs and calculations for 1.0 foot of freeboard have been previously approved by the
