File No. M-85-170
Dear Mr. O'Connor:
This letter is in reply to your letter to Mr. Hines dated September 12,
1985 concerning the BLM Burnt Shale Pit, North of Loma.
Exhibit "B" - Minirig Plan
1. All previous disturbances at this site are included in this
application.
2. Any soil overburden will be stockpiled in the stockpile area
shown on Exhibit "C".
3. The open face of the mine is at this time over 100 feet high.
This open face is shown on Exhibit "C".
4. Mining will take place from 30' to 70' from the gas pipeline.
There is an agreement with Northwest Pipeline Carp. under
Exhibit "H" of the permit application.
5. No diversion structure will be installed. Sediment load
should not increase appreciably over what now exists.
Exhibit "E" - Reclamation Plan
1. Te•race will be approximately 10 feet wide.
2 Do to the nature of the material being mined and the height of
the face, sloping other than near vertical is impractical in
this type of quarry operation. This type of reclamation blends
well with the surrounding area.
3. Depth will depend on the amount of soil overburden found on the
area to be mined and the amount that can be saved.
4. See attachment #1 statements from our Landscape Architect.
5.
