Hutt 2 ~ Permits
The post-mining land use which LCC proposes for the permit area at the Lorencita Canyon Mine is
shown an Map 2,05.5-1, i'ost-mining Land Use. The post-muting land use on undi_, sturbed portions
of the permit area wilt be similar to the pre-mining land use, and will consist of ran oland/wildlife
habitats. Land uses adjacent to the permit area along the river consist afcrvpland, irrigated crop an
and residences. Na land uses adjacent to the permit area will be affected by mining aperatinns. Pre-
mining land uses aze described in Section 2,44.3 of this application. Surface coal minirrg disturbance
areas consist afthe surface mine area and haul raads. Access roads wilt consist of upgraded existing
roads. {)thcr light-use roads will also utilize existing roads and not require new disturbance.
Reclamation of surface distur~3nce areas will establish permanent vegetation cover of the same
seasonal variety and utility as the vegetation native to the affected area, and is consistent with the
plaruted post-mining land uses. Achievement ofthepost-mining land uses will be accomplished by
grading and backfilling, and revegetativn,
The disturbance associated with the surface mine will include the mine area and fill areas. Nv
buildings yr structures will be constructed to support the surface mine. A change of land use
following mining is approved for the surface mine area. The surface mine area will be reclaimed
primarily as grassland wr`th shrub plots interspersed throughout the area. The pre-mine vegetation
communities are grassland and oaklpinyon pine used primarily for wi Idlife habitat with a secondary
use of grazing. The change will increase and improve grazing habitat and will improve habitat for
some wildlife species,
Revegetatian communities representative ofexisting Helios=pre-mine plant catrunuttities will also be
established on the roads. Haul roads will consist of new disturbance in areas with apre-mine land
use of wildlife habitat and gnaxing. Topsoil salvaged from road construction will be stared in
windrows adjacent to the roads ar in a stockpile near the raads. After haul roads are no (anger
needc~ci, they will be reclaimed and revegetated to a grassland community. T}se pr7mazy past-mine
land use will be rattgelartd. Fish and wildlife habitat will be a secondary use.
tJ e of bond and final revegetation, the land will be returned to the pre-mine land us~the-''~ t ~
~gartal areas, d haul/access roads. The surface mine area will be used primarily for grazing; which is
an approved change of land use from the primary pre-mine land use of wildli fehabitat/grazing. LCC
currently Teases all surface lands affected by the mine operations. Upon completion of hnat
reclamation and revegetation, the land use will be returned in each specific use
r yyt¢~
,- P' t~ „ 1t
2.45-7b ~~--C~
{revised 9/13l4i j
-,1
