On this site the vegetation consists of the same species as
are found along Clear Creek. It constitutes about 2-5 percent of
the total area. Therefore, it is of little actual importance,
but it is a component of the vegetation of the site.
~.Q~i'AL__QYgLY1.@fY. The site as a whole is occupied by two
rather distinct communities, where they occur in a pure form.
However, much of the site appears to be a complex transition
between the two major types. Generally, the most important
limiting factor is moisture as controlled by slope aspect. The
complex blending of the communities can slso be found in the
understory species, but it is more difficult to comprehend
because of the many, generally inconspicuous, species that
interact in a more cor.~plex fashion than the larger species.
Soils seers to have only an indirect influence on the vegetation.
From a reclamation point of view, it appears most of the
direction in the revegetation should be derived from the Mountain
Mahogany Community. This is most representative of most of the
mine site. The north-facing slopes of ttie mine do present a
different environment that nwst be accounted for in the
revegetation plans.
34
