Ozot. c` Ratural Res^^_I•~°r <br />Re: CARLETON CURRIER GRAVEL PIT APPLICATION <br />YOUR FILE N0. 80-203 <br />Dear Bob: <br />In your letter to me dated December 29, 1980 relative to the <br />above matter, you requested an estimate of the life of the <br />gravel pit operation, I had to face the same question when <br />preparing the Notice of Hearing along the lines of your <br />completion letter dated December 11, 1980. A copy of that <br />Notice is enclosed for your reference. <br />I contacted Mr. Currier with this question. He advised me <br />that it was his intention to mine the gravel on an "as <br />needed" basis while remaining within the 70,000 ton per year <br />limitation. It is not his intention to immediately go in and <br />fully mine the area in question. <br />For that reason, I contacted your office in connection with <br />the preparation of my Notice of Hearing. Jay Lucas, in your <br />absence, indicated that it was acceptable to put "unknown" <br />for date of completion. <br />Relative to stripping and stockpiling of overburden, I am <br />advised by Mr, Currier that the gravel to be removed is <br />largely exposed by erosion on the hillside location to be <br />mined. Because of this situation, stipping and stockpiling <br />would be unnecessary. You will note this is the procedure <br />outlined in the Mining Plan appended to Mr. Currier's <br />application as Exhibit "B". <br />I hope that I have satisfactorily answered the questions <br />
