Mr. Dave Shelton <br />Page 2 <br />_ August 24, 1982 <br />• <br />4) It continues to be Northern Coal Company's intent <br />to pursue the acquisition of a modified mine plan <br />approval, under the permanent program, for the <br />Northern No. 1 Mine, Rienau No. 2 Mine and <br />Wilson-Loudy Loadout. <br />In order to facilitate your review the following information <br />is organized in the format prescribed by Rule 4.30.1. <br />4.30.1(1) - The environmental integrity of all surface <br />areas will be maintained according to the <br />terms of the permits and applicable perfor- <br />mance standards. <br />. Northern No. 1 Mine - At this point ~.n time, <br />Nort ern Coa Company intends to teu~porarily <br />seal the INorthern No. 1 Mine`s portals in <br />accordance with Rules 4.07.1 and 4.07.2. <br />Rienau No. 2 PSine - Thru the temporary cessa- <br />tion o the Rienau No. 2 Mine, a crew will <br />remain to maintain the portals in a service- <br />able condition as well as continuing ventila- <br />tion and intermittent mine water pumping. <br />• Refuse Area - The refuse area (Phase I) will <br />be maintained in strict compliance with the <br />terms and design criteria of the approved per- <br />mit and applicable performance standards thru <br />the temporary cessation of the mines. <br />Wilson-Loudy Loadout - Northern Coal Company <br />is continuing to utilize the Loadout in ful- <br />filling a coal contract. When this contract <br />has been fulfilled, the facilities remaining <br />will be maintained and monitored according to <br />the terms of the permit and applicable perfor- <br />mance standards. <br />E ui ment, Su lies, Bathhouses Trailer Office <br />Northern Coa Company wz continue to shi t <br />men, equipment, and supplies between the mines <br />as needed. Trailers and bathhouses will be <br />utilized as needed by the support personnel. <br />4.30.1(2) (a) - The total amount of surface area <br />(Rienau ~p2 - 8.6 acres, Northern ~;l - 12.6, <br />Refuse Area - 4.4, and Wilson Loadout - <br />30.4 acres) will not increase over the term <br />of the temporary cessation of either mine or <br />support facilities. The horizontal and verti- <br />• cal extent of the underground works of each <br />mine are depicted on the attached maps, <br />Exhibits B ~ C. <br />n~ii <br />
