:stipulation No.
THE PERAIITTEE SHALL PREPARE A PLAId FOR THE ACCURATE AI?D
RELIABLE PIEASUREMENT OF f•1IIQE DISCHARGES AIdD f4IIdE INFLOI•JS
BENEATH CURTIS CREEK. THIS PLAtd SHALL BE SUBPIITTED TO
THE DIVISION FOR ITS APPROVAL WITHIN 30 DAYS OF THE
ISSUANCE OF THE PERMIT.
1JOrthern Coal's Plan:
~,
The Rienau 2 Mine is divided into 4 mayor sections:
West Alains, Northeast I9ains, 1st East, and Second East.
We have 4 water collection points, one for each section.
These points are delineated on the attached map.
Point A collects all the water from the 1st East Section,
and consequently the inflow from under Curtis Creek.
4Jhen the level in the sump gets high enough, a siphon
line takes it to the mine sump at Point C. A water
meter is installed on the siphon line to give a gallon-
age figure for water coming from 1st East.
Point B collects the water from the 2r7d East Section.
However, there is no mine inflow from Curtis Creek to
evaluate as the face is 300 feet from the Creek. This
water is pumped to the mine sump at Point C and a meter
on the line shows the contribution to the mine water.
Point C collects the water from lst East, 2nd East, ~~.d
the Northeast mains. It is then pumped up the hill ;,r
the West Mains Section a:here it flo~•rs to the main mi~-,c
sump at Point D. A meter on the line at Point C give.
a figure for gallonage mixed in with the West Plains.
Point D collects all the water from the entire mine.
After it has been held to allow settling of solids, _.
is pumped outside the mine to Point E where it is at.~_'..
held and then discharged into Curtis Creek. A meter :...
the pump at Point D gives a figure for complete mine
discharge.
This plan allows for a determination of how much water
is yielded by each section o£ the mine, and the subse-
quent mine discharge. The following formulas, based o~:
the collection points, will demonstrate this:
1st East = Point A
2nd East = Point B
Northeast Mains= C - (A + B)
West Mains = D - C
Entire Mine = D ~
• The readings of the meters will be done
.,,,~,~~ y;~,; ~
I.lF~i1 N
J I..IC.J
m~~~~ p J RCCCAf1Ai'ItlN tlIVIS(Oll
OC of WaturaJ Resources
