Section 779.12 Continued.
Revised 12/30/80
(a) The size, sequence, and timing of the subareas of the mine plan
area for which it is anticipated that individual permits for mining will
be requested over the estimated total life of the proposed surface
mining activities; and
Kerr Coal expects that its surface mining operations in the Mine
Plan Area will be carried on through 1989. Most of the proposed
mining will occur in the area encompassed by the recently-issued
Federal Coal Lease No. C-22777, otherwise known as the Kerr North
Area. Mining in the existing Marr Mine area will cease upon the
exhaustion of the reserves early in 1981. The size, sequence and
timing of events in the Mine Plan Area over the total life of the
proposed surface mining activities are shown on: Map 1, Kerr Mine
Area Mine Plan; Map 33, Kerr Mine Area Overburden Replacement and
Grading; Map 31a, Kerr Mine, Area Soil Removal and Storage; and Map
32, Kerr Mine Area Soil Replacement and Revegetation. As can be
seen on Map 31a, Kerr Mine Area Soil Removal and Storage, during
the initial five year permit term, the ma3ority of all surface
disturbance planned to take place within the Mine Plan Area will
occur. That disturbance which will not occur within the initial 5
year permit term is delineated as Post-1985 Units on Map 31a.
Although two to three years of coal will remain to be mined at the
end of the initial permit term, the pit and the associated topsoil
removal will extend into all but 27 acres (106 of the total) to be
disturbed. In this regard, the Permit Boundary encompasses the
entire Mine Plan Area. One additional permit covering the remain-
ing recoverable reserves, but no additional area, will be required
unless Kerr Coal is successful in obtaining additional coal re-
coverable through surface mining methods.
(b) The nature of cultural and historic resources listed or eligible
for listing on the National Register of Historic Places and known ar-
~' ~~~
779-2 aaaaaa
~~~` ~; `'0 C7~
i
c
ts;,.; ic31
P:r~ ~,:r~v4
