I:err: <br />In re=_phnne to your phone call of July 22, I am giving you our'•seeding <br />r_commendatien for sites such as yours. <br />After excavation, the area mined will be restored to native •vegetative <br />~n,~pr <br />Enough topsoil should be stockpiled in order to plate or bacl:fill any <br />disturbed area with a minirnurr~ of at least four (4) inches of topsoil. <br />All slopes after excavation should be graded to a minimum of 4:1. <br />This will 31101U for establishment of permanent: vegetative cover, <br />The seedbed should be as clean and firm as; possible prior to <br />planting. It would be desirable to use a grass drill equipped with depth <br />bands and packer wheels. <br />A mixture of eight (8) pounds pure live sued to the acre of Barton <br />1.'estern vrheatgrass and four and one half (4.5) pounds per acre pure live <br />seed of Vaughn or E1 Reno sideoats grarna should be planted. A trace <br />amount of 1~lountain I.lahogany shrub could be added to this mi;;ture, <br />The sending should be mulched. If a straw er hay mulch is used a <br />minimum of 4000 pounds per acre of a;r dry.mu~lch should be used. The <br />mulch would be crimped into the sail followinsl the seeding operation. <br />Any seeding should be done in either earll~ spring or late enough in <br />the fall so that .germination will not occur until the. next spring.
