proposed follows Colorado Division of Wildlife guidelines and has been
readily accepted in the past.
• Species diversity for the vegetation types studied falls within the
proposed standards. The five dominant species based upon relative cover in
the oakbrush and mixed shrub types had a combined relative cover values of 60
and 70 percent, no one of which exceeded 60 percent.
The revegetation success standards previously adopted for the OVM are
applicable to the proposed portal site and are realistic in achievability.
4.2 Revegetation Seeding Mixture
The previously accepted seeding mixture (1983 permit, Section 2.05.4
Reclamation Plan) for the Orchard Valley Mine was devised based upon a review
of the literature concerning revegetation in similar vegetation types and
Soil Conservation Service guidelines. The accepted seed mixtures allowed the
OVM flexibility in selecting species which reflect the natural conditions and
better achieve the desired land use goals. Because the proposed portal site
is similar to the the areas already revegetated by OVM with acceptable
success, the same seed mixture should be applicable to the proposed portal
site as well.

5.0 LITERATURE CITED
Harrington, H.D. 1964.
