eh
ESPEY, HUSTON R ASSOCIATES, INC.
•
The overall rating given for each horizon is the rating for the most
limiting pazameter. In many cases the limiting factor is soil texture. The soils are
clayey and silty; most textures aze silty clay ]oams. Silty clay loam textures aze
only rated as fair sources of material. In most profiles, suitability decreases with
depth.
•
3.4.4 Volumes of Material Available
3.4.4.1 Northern No. 1 (FF-Seam) Mine
Table I-10 gives volumes of material available in the portions of the
Northern No. 1 (FF-Seam) Mine azea to be disturbed. The volumes were computed
as follows. The acreage of each map unit to be disturbed was measured. That area
includes the mine facilities area and the portion of the road to be widened.
Approximately 18 acres will be disturbed. The percent of the map unit occupied by
each series (from Section 3.2.1) was tabulated. The horizons and their ratings were
also tabulated (from Table I-8). The percentage of map unit occupied multipled by
the acres to be disturbed gives an estimate of acreage of each series to be
I-72
