Exhibit C Mining Plan
Mining Plan
The City of Rifle proposes to mine the overburden and pit run material of this 9.9 acre
site immediately upon permit approval and continue until the need for the resource is
exhausted or the material is exhausted. We anticipate a life of 10 years.
There is an exposed layer of pit run material on the west side of the site. This azea will
be excavated initially. The operation will continue to the east, removing material as
needed.
The top 6-inches of material in the native areas will be removed and stockpiled in berms
along the south and southwest side of the operation. This material will. be used later for
reclamation.
There is an estimated 10 to 15 feet of overburden above the pit run construction material.
Some overburden will be used as fill on projects; other will be used in berms on site or
stockpiled for later reclamation purposes.
Dewatering
There aze no known springs or groundwater associated with this site.
Processing
There will be a minimal amount of processing on site. Mainly, the plan is to remove
overburden and expose pit run material that will be available for City projects.
Other
The major component of this mining operation will be the entrance road to the site.
There will be no permanent structures or other processing facilities at this time. If
changes in the market dictate, a portable crushing operation may be brought on site.
The site is adjacent to US 6 and a Garfield County road. Access to the site is through the
existing access on the County road.
A City of rifle water main is adjacent to the site. If greater amounts of water aze needed,
a water main extension to the site will be made.
Drainage
Historic drainage over the site will be routed around the north and east sides of the
operation. This drainage will be dischazged as before into the roadside drainage ditches.
Drainage and other water encountered within the mining operation will be routed to a
collection basin for sediment control and then dischazged at historic rates to the drainage
way adjacent to the site.
Process Area
