Sox 1073 <br />Cen'tlemen: <br /> <br />u66 <br />In order to consider this application adequate for the June 24-25, 1981 <br />meeting of the Mined Land Reclamation Board, the following items must be <br />addres;:ed in detail: <br />b. Exhibit D - :aping "Plan <br />1. 7ne Soil Conservation Service report indicates that a minimum of <br />8 inches of topsoil could be removed and salvaged for later replace- <br />ment. The staff recommends that 8 inches of topsoil be removed <br />prior to mining. If this would not be possible, please describe <br />your reasons in detail. <br />2. Topsoil to be stockpiled for greater than 1 year should have e <br />grass cover crop pleated during the first growing season to <br />protect the topsoil from wind and water erosion. <br />3. The topsoil stockpiles should be triangular in shape with no slopes <br />steeper than 2:1 (horizontal:vertical). <br />4. To what depth will the gravel be minedY <br />S. At what depth was water encountered oa the north edge of the current <br />mina <br />B. Exhibit E - Reclamation Plan <br />1. Tha first sentence of the first paragraph should read as follows: <br />"The south portions of the area phase 1 will be graded sad contoured <br />and shaped to a ratio in no event greater rhea 2:1 but preferable <br />sot greater than 3:1". <br />2. The Soil Conservation Service report indicates that it would be <br />possible to replace topsoil to s depth of at least 6 inches minimwa. <br />The staff recommends that topsoil be rep~~aced to a minimum depth of <br />6 inches. Ia the operator in agreement with this figure? <br />3. The Soil Conservation Service fertiliser recommendations should be <br />followed se outlined in their revegetation guidelines. <br />
