Based on a communication from the
Colorado Division of Wildlife, the DMG has issued a coal
exploration permit to Cyprus Empire Corporation (CEC) stipulating
that CEC maintain a 1/4 mile buffer zone between drilling sites and
the Yampa River as well as between drilling sites and all raptor
nests during the winter and spring months.
Additionally, the DMG has determined that there will be no
consumptive water use under this permit; therefore, impacts to the
river are not anticipated. I trust that these determinations
address your concerns regarding the CEC exploration permit. If you
have any questions, please call me at (303) 866-3567.
Sincerely, ,~
ai.G~.~. o~. /~.-r.~e
Barbara L. Pavlik
Environmental Protection Specialist
