RECEIVED
OCT 2 3 2002
Division of Minerals and Geology
MINING PLAN IXHIBIT C
The Mining Plan for the Cucharas Pit is as follows (Please also see map):
a. The estimated starting date is November 1, 2002. The life of this mine will be
over 5 years.
b. Re soiling will not begin until mining is complete on the entire area because of
the limited room available for stockpiling and processing. All available topsoil will
be salvaged and stockpiled on the affected lands. We estimate the average
depth of the replaced topsoil will be 6".
The overburden (subsoil) will also be stockpiled on the proposed mining area.
See Reference Map: Exhibit E
Characteristics of the flora and fauna consist of rabbit bush, blue grams grass,
sand dropseed, needle and thread, prickly pear cactus, and yucca.
Characteristics of the undisturbed soils consist of a top 6"-12" layer of light
brownish gray sandy loam (topsoil). The substratum to a depth of 6" to 12" or
more is sandy loam. Pit run aggregate 6 to 7 feet thick is below the sandy loam
overburden. A seam of clay (thickness unknown) is below the gravel deposit.
Permeability of the soils is moderately rapid and effective rooting depth is 60
inches or more.
The pit area will be basically the same type land and vegetation surrounding it.
The surrounding properties are rangeland.
c. The Mining Plan Map, will show in more detail the topography and the gravel
deposits. However, the nature of this deposit is a very gravelly sand material
used for construction aggregates, such as road base, and structural fill materials
as the main products. The overburden is about 1 ft. in depth, and the gravel
deposit is a mining of 6 ft. deep. Overburden will either be used in the product
mix or used for backfilling the pit. There are no secondary commodities to be
mined or extracted on this site.
d. The substratum to a depth of 6" to 12" or more will be mined for our primary
commodity being road base. However, mining will not be commenced within
two (2) feet of the water table.
