Director
December 12, 1985
Mr. Melvin R. Gydesen, Owner
Lucky Strike Mine
P.O. Box 7
Gunnison, Colorado 81230
Re: File No. M-82-020 ,~
Dear Mr. Gydesen:
Thank you for your letter of November 21, 1985. We acknowledge that the Lucky
Strike Mine is not presently using the cyanide circuit and there are no plans
to use the cyanide circuit in the near future. The existing financial
warranty of $5,000.00 is considered sufficient at this time; however, the
financial warranty would very probably need to be increased upon resumption of
cyanide leaching processes at the Lucky Strike Mine. Your letter of
November 21, 1985 indicates that the Division would receive prior notification
if you decide to resume cyanide leaching operations. Such notification will
be required.
Additionally, Philip Saletta's inspection report of August 1, 1985 and letter
of October 2, 1985 to Mr. Mike Klein (copy enclosed) indicates the possible
need for a technical revision regarding tailings disposal and the use of ponds
for standard milling processes. Please update us on your plans for tailings
reclamation and future site use for milling.
Thank you for your continued cooperation. Please keep us posted as to your
plans and feel free to call with any questions.
Sincerely, ; "/
~ ~/
-~ ,
~~/:
~v~-,
la ioh Specialist
D / ~'.
closure(s)
5675E
~~
423 Centenn!al Building, 1313 Sherman Street .Denver, Colorado 80203 Tel.
