Third Park climate is assumed to be similar to that of the larger resource
area. BLM states that the climate can be characterized by "dry air, sunny, clear nights, low to
moderate precipitation, high evaporation rates, and extreme temperature differences throughout
the day" (BLM 1984).
BLM explains that temperature at the lower elevations of the resource area typically ranges from
50 to 93°F in the summer and from -14 to 43°F in the winter
' Precipitation amounts are dominated by summer thunderstorms which contribute to the total
sum of precipitation at 12 to 39 inches per year. Snowfall generally is between 20 to 30 inches
per year, which also contributes to a portion of the total annual precipitation.
1
' Third Park Exploration License Application 10
