Bear:
The Division has reviewed the minor revision request for backfilIing the
Bear No. 2 portal cut with underground development waste from the Aft.
Gunnison No. I Aline. The application is deemed complete and the Division
approves the minor revision. The approval decision is based on the fact
that the material strength characteristics of the Alt. Gunnison No. 1 Mine
underground development waste does not vary significantly from the originally
anticipated Bear No. 2 Mine backfill. The Division does not consider the
revision to constitute a significant change in the reclamation plan.
Conformance with stipulations No.8,9, and 10 of permit llo. C-033-81 will
continue to be strictly enforced. These stipulations require compaction
testing of backfill material prior to placement, and engineering super-
vision, inspection, and certification of the placement, compaction and
final grading of the backfilled material Following completion of the
backfilling, the operator is responsible for the installation and monitoring
of slope stability monuments.
If you have any questions, please contact me.
Sincerely,
~~~ ~~~
Dan Mathews
Reclamation Specialist
DM:ys
cc: Floyd Johnson
•
