2.0 RUSLE
2.3 SLOPE LENGTH (LS)
The slope along with the slope length was determined using the attached project map, slope stability
analysis conducted by Greystone, and the November 2004 field investigation report (USDAb). Table 2-3
summarizes the results of this analysis.
TABLE 2-2 -SLOPE LENGTH
Thermal Event SAES LS
TEA1 W 6.81
Undisturbed oakbrush 13.02
TEA 1 C 13.89
Undisturbed oakbrush 14.64
TEA 1 E 15.91
Undisturbed oakbrush 17.47
TEA2 8.84
Undisturbed oakbrush 8.98
TEAG 3.93
Undisturbed oakbrush 4.46
TEA3 5.38
Undisturbed oakbrush 7.67
TEA4 0.68
Undisturbed oakbrush 1.46
2.4 CROPPING MANAGEMENT FACTOR (C)
The cropping management factor is the ratio of soil loss from land under certain cover and management
conditions to the soil loss from tilled and bare soil (USDAb). The field visit conducted in November of
2004 characterized the surface cover. The major difference between the SAES and the adjacent
undisturbed areas is the absence of appreciable canopy. These results along with associated C factors are
presented in Table 2-4.
Thermal Event RUSLE Report.doc 2-2
