• SGN36 is located on private property. WCRM's field visit indicates that the site contains five
structures/structural *~!*!!±~*+ts which can be considered to range in condition from deteriorated to
ruins. There are no standing structures on this site and the site remains in much the same
condition as it was described during its original recording. A relatively recent ditch (Stu -lOm
wide) is noted in the western portion the site but impact on the site is n+in;n+al. Structure 1,
measuring approximately 18' x 24', is an area containing some surfcial stone foundation
remnants as well as a domestic trash scatter. Structure 2, measuring approximately 15' x 15', is a
dugout with a light scatter of associated artifacts. Structure 3, as identified by Applegarth and
Hurbutt, is a possible structure represented by two burned posts. Upon further examination, it is
unlikely that these remains represent a structure. Structure 4 measures approximately 10' by 12'
and contains a possible stone foundation and a scatter of milled lumber. Structure 5, measuring
approximately 12' x 18', contains milled lumber and domestic trash. The general site area
contains a light scatter of milled and rough cut lumber, pieces of pipe (varying sizes), white
earthenwaze fragments, colorless glass fragments, stove pipe corrugated sheet metal, tar paper
• washers, a barrel hoop, and a pan handle. A shovel test probe (STP) was placed in the floor azea
of Structure 1. The STP produced approximately lOcm of sedimentation containing wire on top of
a lens of coal and charcoal.
•
