• The procedure for the hole in the reclaimed area (OS-O1-0011) consisted
of drilling and sampling through the spoils and into bedrock. Chip samples
were homogenized and combined into 10-foot intervals for laboratory analysis.
Laboratory 7-aalyai• o! Lithologle Samplaa
Lithologic samples were analyzed for their chemical and physical
properties by Front Range Lab., Inc., of Fort Collins, Colorado. The
parameters analyzed, their unite, and the procedures are listed in Table 2.2-
1.
Laboratory 1laalyal• of Drilling water
Drilling was performed using air, water and a water/organic polymer foam
mixture in that order of preference. Water sources for each hole are provided
with the driller's log and locations for each water source are shown on
Exhibit 2.1-1. Water sources were sampled prior to drilling and water from
each source used was sampled as needed in the drilling program. Each sampling
included one bottle of water 'fixed' with nitric acid and a second 'unfixed'
sample. Analysis of the water samples was performed by Front Range Lab.,
Inc., of Fort Collins. The parameters determined, reporting units, and
~i methods used are outlined in Table 2.2-2.
7lbandonmani and Raelamatioa o! 8zploration Drill 8olaa
Abandonment and reclamation of drill holes within the permit boundary
may be divided into two distinct categories; drill holes within the permit
boundary but not within the five-year permit term and drill holes within the
permit boundary and within the five-year permit term. Drill holes within the
permit boundary but not within the five-year permit term will be abandoned and
reclaimed in accordance with specific and separate exploration permits
obtained from the appropriate regulatory agencies and, therefore, will not be
discussed further in this permit. Drill holes within the permit boundary and
within the permit term will be abandoned and reclaimed as described in the
following paragraphs.
Exploration holes, drill holes, bore holes or other exposed underground
openings that will be mined through within one year will not undergo
abandonment procedures nor will the drill site be reclaimed. Due to the short
distance and time period between abandonment of the hole and mining through
the drill Bite with the active mining operations, complete abandonment of the
hole and reclamation of drill site is not considered warranted.
