SECTION 7.2 SENECA II-W SOUTH HYDROLOGIC DESCRIPTION <br />Ground Water Levels <br />Introduction. Table 15-2 ITab 15, Hydrologic Monitoring Plan) provides a summary of all <br />ground water monitoring sites at Seneca II-W. Appendix 7-1 provides well completion <br />summaries for these wells. Appendix 7-2 provides ground water level reports, hydrog raphs, <br />and statistical summaries for these wells. An update of data for Permit Revision 3 (Sage <br />Creek/Wolf Creek coal) in the II-W South Area may be found at the end of Appendix 7-2. <br />Exhibits 7-2A and 7-3A have been prepared to show the potentiometric surfaces for the Wadge <br />overburden and coal in the II-W South area. Exhibits 7-26, 7-36, 7-4A and 7-4B have been <br />prepared to show the potentiometric surfaces of the Sage Creek overburden, Sage Creek coal, <br />Wolf Creek overburden and Wolf Creek coal in the II-W South area. <br />Alluvium. Five monitor wells IGW-S2W-6A1 to 4, and 7A2) exist in the Hubberson Gulch <br />alluvium downgradient of the II-W South area. Review of their hydrographs indicate seasonal <br />trends typical to this region, i.e., shallow after the spring recharge, deepening towards the fall. <br />Since May 7989, wells 6A1 to 6A3 have experienced higher than normal water levels during <br />May through July due to irrigation of the hay meadow where these wells are located. <br />Wadge Overburden. Two monitor wells IGW-S2W-40V1 and 40V2) exist in the II-W South <br />area. In addition, well GW-S2W-180V exist just to the north of the II-W South area. Wells <br />40V1 and 40V2 exhibit the same typical seasonal variation as described for the alluvium. Well <br />180V has generally experienced increasing water levels since 1995. <br />Wadge Coal. One monitor well IGW-S2W-4W) exists in the II-W South area. Seasonal <br />variability here is much smaller than year to year variations. Well GW-S2W-18W exists <br />adjacent to well 180V (see previous paragraphl. Seasonal variability of water levels is small <br />compared to the generally increasing levels noted as this well. <br />Sage Creek Overburden, Sage Creek Coal, Wolf Creek Overburden. Three wells monitor each <br />of these three strata; WS0V24, WSC24 and WWCOV24. These three wells were drilled in <br />August 2001. Not enough data exists to evaluate water level trends. All three wells are <br />flowing. <br />Wolf Creek Coal. Two monitor wells IGW-S2W-4WC and WWC24) exists in the II-W South <br />area. Water levels at Well 4WC are generally over a hundred feet deeper than the adjacent <br />Wadge Coal Well 4W, indicating no hydraulic communication between the two units. Not <br />enough data exists for Well WWC24 to evaluate a trend (it was drilled in August 20011. This <br />well also flows. <br />146 Revised 01/02 <br />
