The total disturbed acreage associated with the proposed Pilot Plant will be
X3.9 acres. The areas of disturbance are shown on Figure D-1. The
component parts of th•e disturbed areas are indicated in Table D-2, Per Rule
2 of the MLRD Regulations, the majority of the disturbance will fall into
the "moderate disturbance" category. For the purposes of this permit
application, it is assumed that reclamation of the area will commence only
after the Pilot Plant has ceased operation.

The anticipated project schedule is presented in Figure D-8. As indicated,
well drilling will begin 1 April 1984, and nahcolite mining will begin 1
November 1984, Pilot mining operation will proceed for 1 to 2 years.
The Pilot Solution Mine will operate 24 hours per day, seven days per week.
Maintenance will be scheduled, as required. Since the proposed mining plan
involves solution mining, the only underground maintenance required relates
to scaling in the production piping.
