• For the additional 31 employees to be hired at WSCC due to mine expansion, <br />it is anticipated that 47 indirect jobs will have to be filled. The 31 <br />additional employees are labeled as in-migrants. As previously mentioned, <br />even if all 31 are locally hired, the vacancies created in their previous <br />jobs would most likely be filled by in-migrants (see Chapter II). <br />Therefore, these employees are treated like in-migrants for the purpose of <br />determining indirect employment and, in a later section, the population <br />impact. <br />In summary, when WSCC employment reac2~es the 350 level an additional 238 <br />indirect jobs will be created in the area due to the in-migration of the <br />direct workforce. <br />B. Population Impacts <br /> To calibrate the population increase attributable to Western Slope, demo- <br /> graphic data on the existing workforce were compiled by WSCC. The typical <br />• employee is 33 years of age, 748 are married and have 2.13 children, and the <br /> annual average salary is $28,000 (management included).
