by the mining process. A metal slope belt-drive building with dimensions of 32 x 40 x 20 feet, located north of <br />the existing transfer building, was constructed in 1995, and provides electrical and mechanical support for <br />• conveyor system. Bonding calculations addressing removal of the new slope belt-drive building are presented in <br />Volume 1-A. <br />Feeders onto the belts located in the reclaim tunnels feed coal from the stockpile. The overland belt was <br />constructed during 1989 and it conveys coal from the reclaim tunnel to Tipple 2.. If trucks were used for coal <br />haulage, the coal would be loaded out of the stockpile with a loader or similar type of equipment and hauled to <br />Tipple 2. This would only occur in the case of an emergency. <br />TCC's upgraded coal handling facility provides the mine an opportunity to convey coal at varying rates <br />depending on demand. Construction practices will include driving/installing caissons and building grade beams <br />and footers to provide an adequate foundation for the various structures. The individual design requirements for <br />the various structures dictate the type of foundation required. The facilities aze shown on Map 24. During the <br />upgrade, the slope conveyor belt was increased in size to accommodate the higher tonnage. All of the belts and <br />systems are sized to efficiently convey the increased tonnage. The existing transfer building is used to support <br />the slope-belt. <br />Repairs to a support structure on the run-of--mine (ROM) conveyor were required after steel conveyor bents <br />were damaged by contact with heavy equipment. Damaged structural steel was replaced/repaired and a <br />protective concrete curb around the existing support pylons was constructed without significantly altering the <br />existing conveyor structure. Design drawings for the repairs and protective structure are provided in Exhibit <br />49D. <br />The new transfer building is located south of the existing transfer building. In this building, coal is transferred <br />from the slope-belt to the stacker tube feed-belt, or waste rock is transferred from the slope-belt to the waste <br />rock conveyor belt. The location of the belt has been modified to facilitate operations around the storage <br />building. The new location, as shown on Map 24, Surface Facilities, required excavating approximately 11,000 <br />CY of spoil and rerouting Ditch D-4 azound the stockpile. The excavated material was either placed in the <br />reclaim tunnel excavation or in the waste rock disposal area. The excavated spoil was sloped to a 1H:1V or <br />steeper depending upon field conditions. If field conditions require, a safety bench will be constructed in the cut <br />slope. Removal of this material will not impact the reclamation plan <br />A 16 x 38 foot roofed shed addition was added to the south wall of the existing transfer building in October <br />2003. This addition is supported by f:ve ] 0-inch x 57-foot pilings driven to a depth of approximately 30 feet. <br />The pilings aze constructed with concrete caps supporting concrete piers. This building will be used to cover the <br />rock belt and includes awash-down water collection sump. <br />A propane heater system was installed on a 20 x 20 x 2 foot concrete pad adjacent to the existing transfer <br />building (northeast side) in October 2003. The heating system is used to heat the transfer building, adjacent <br />sampling building, and to replace the existing heating line to the portal. The heating system utilizes an internal <br />2-inch polypropylene propane vapor line. The propane vapor feed-line running from the existing 18,000 gallon <br />propane tank on the surface is approximately 700 feet in length. The line is buried at a depth of approximately <br />4-feet, from the existing propane tank to the new concrete pad location. The line is 2-inch, Schedule 40 steel <br />and is supported and anchored at the point where it goes over the highwall. The system also includes a <br />vaporizer, a 6 x 6 x 6 foot concrete pad at the tank location, and a regulator at the heater location. <br />To protect the #4 bent on the TCC stacker conveyor, a steel revetment approximately 25' x 25' x 55' was <br />constructed on concrete footers. A roof may be added to the revetment to prevent accumulations of coal inside <br />the revetment. The concrete footers will be pushed to the base of the portal highwall and be buried during final <br />• reclamation. <br />MROS-199 2.05-25 09/15/05 <br />
