Stevens
Senior Environmental Protection Specialist
Division of Minerals and Geology
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
RE: Florence Pit, File No. M-2001-070
Deaz Mr. Stevens;
RECEIVED
AUG 0 1 2001
Division of Minerals and Geology
I have received your notice that Wallace Burtis has filed an application to conduct mining
activities, close to the City of Cripple Creek, located in Teller County. As we only received the
application, further reseazch will be needed by this office. The application material provided
does not provide enough information for the City to determine what, if any, this operation may
have on the City's water transmission line which is located in the immediate vicinity. I am
familiar with Burtis property and it's location, but without a copy of the mining plan I cannot
judge the potential impact to our water line.
I would request that you provide me a copy of Exhibit C and Exhibit E, if possible. I
don't know if this material is able to be faxed to this office, however, if it is possible I would
request that you do so to the number noted below. If it is not feasible, please advise this office so
that I can make a trip to the Courthouse to examine the actual application.
I want to thank you for your attention to this request.
Sincere ,
Kip Petersen
City Administrator
337 E.
