10. Construction Procedures for Diversion. • <br />The construction for the diversion will be accomplished between October and iblarch. <br />The flow during this period is generally less than 10 cfs. During construction the <br />existing channel could remain open to handle these flows. Partial backfilling of the <br />existing channel may be necessary to handle excess cut material. However, care <br />will be taken to insure that any refuse material placed in the channel is placed over <br />the required 3 ft of fill and compacted to 2 ft lifts. Operationally, it will be <br />desirable to temporarily divert the stream flow around the existing channel and <br />diversion construction area to avoid rehandling backfill material. Such temporary <br />diversion can be accomplished by diverting water from the existing dam upstream of <br />the diversion area (by gravity or pump) and transporting it around the construction <br />area in ditches, flumes or pipes. This procedure will be more economical than <br />leaving the existing channel and should decrease the construction time significantly. <br /> <br />L <br />
