These amounts of water have been used in the gravel well permit application with the <br />Colorado Division of Water Resources. <br />4. GROUNDWATER <br />In the permit and surrounding area, 5 feet of overburden (mostly fines) exists over Quaternary age <br />gravels of 20-30 feet thickness. below this gravel zone is the very thick and impermeable Mancos <br />Shale, which forms the base of the lower Colorado River valley.
