On October 6, 1995, Mr. Madariaga met with Ms. Kathy Welt
of MCC to personally view the site. After viewing the area, Mr. Madariaga did not express any
concerns about potential impacts to threatened and endangered species or their critical habitat
from the proposed exploration activities to be conducted in the LRP-2 area or by the development
of LRP-2.
•
Mr. Terry Ireland of USFWS was contacted on October 3, 1995. Mr. Ireland decided not to
personally inspect the site given the small size in question and that exploration activities are initially
proposed to be conducted. Mr. Ireland has no concerns about potential impacts to threatened and
endangered species or their critical habitat from the proposed exploration activities to be conducted
in the LAP-2 area. Mr. Ireland's only stated concern with development of LRP-2 would be potential
impacts to the willow fly catcher and its habitat. The willow fly catcher was not observed during
the site investigation noted above and potential habitat for his species is exceedingly limited to
non-existent along Sylvester Gulch.
r1
LJ
WESTEC Projoct No. 95258 Threaiened & Endangered Speeiee Survey Report No. 1370A
April 1997 WESTEC, Inc. 4
