iii iiiiiniiiiiiiii
999
August 16, 1918
Mr. William Kent Crowder
P.O. Box 337
Walden, CO 80480
RE: Riley Pit
Our File 478-2b6
Dear Mr. Browder:
(-~ ~,,

As usual, the permit application you submitted is bery well
written and prepared. Ae I've said previously, the Board aad
staff appreciate your efforts and care is preparing the Jackson
County permit applications.
The only staff concern ie with the seed mixture.. If you will
refer to my letters of the past on this subject, you will note
that the statute requires a diverse seed mixture. Tha Board will
not approve a seed mixtuze consisting only of Western Wheatgraea
end Annual Ryegraes.
The staff recommends subetltutian of the following seed mixture:
SFECIBS
Western Wheatgraae
Green Needlegraea
Hard Fescue
Russian Wildrye
SEEDING BATE IN PLS?ACRE
460 pounds `f,D
2255pounds ,1$
0.5 pounds ~-S
1.5 pounds 1 ~~
The main diffeaence between this mixture aad the one given for
the Nofeinger and 1Laoberd Pita is the use of Hard Fescue rather
than Steambank Wheatgrase. This higher precipitation rate juati-
fiee the use of Hard Fescue.
I would appreciate your comments on this mattes, and hope we can
continue to have a cordi$1 relationship.
If I can be of further help, please give me a call.
Sincerely,
Rogan S. Funaton
Reclamation Specialist
