J. E. STOVER & ASSOCIATES, INC.
P.O. MANAGEMENT
RECEIVED
APR 2 8 2006
Division of Minerals & Geology
CAM-Colorado LLC (CAM) has initiated the permitting process for the Redcliff Mine. The proposed
Redcliff Mine project area is located approximately 11 miles north of the towns of Mack and Loma
and 1.5 miles east of Colorado State Highway 139. CAM is proposing new portals and associated
facilities to extract low-sulfur coal from Federal Coal Leases C-0125515, C-0125516, C-0125439
and future federal coal leases. A proposed rail spur will traverse approximately 9.5 miles of BLM
land, including one crossing of State Highway 139, and approximately 5 miles of private land.
The Division of Minerals and Geologys (DMG) rules require a study of fish and wildlife and their
habitats within areas to be affected by the mining operation. Prior to initiating such studies, the
DMG and DOW are to determine the level of detail and the areas for such studies, accorcling to:
(a) Published data and other information;
(b) Site-specific information obtained by CAM; and
(c) Written guidance obtained from agencies consulted.
Please provide a source for any published data available and provide guidance for information that
should be obtained by CAM.
Attached are two maps. Figure 1 provides an outline of the area where most of the activity will be
concentrated. Figure 2 is a General Location Map that shows the proposed alignment of the rail
spur.
Sincerely
~~~
J. E.
