BOX 456
MONTROSE, COLORADO 81401
OFFICE: 249-6622 HOME 249-3823
December 9, 1983
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
On December 8, 1983 State Water Commissioner Richard Drexel and myself in-
spected a gravel excavation area known as Benton Dawson Gravel Pit located
on six acres in Section 15 of the SW's SEA, Township 15 South, Range 96
West, 6th P.M.
Mr. Ray Hawkins of 949 Meeker Street, Delta, Colorado has an interest in
mining from this gravel pit location.
J A DAHIELSON
Slele Eny~neer
The purpose of this inspection was to determine if the excavation of gravel
from this location would disturb any springs, ditches, water rights, or
water distribution systems. From our inspection it was determined that ex-
cavation at this particular location would have no impact of this sort, and
this office has no objection to this gravel mining.
It is our understanding that there will be no water used in the excavation
or processing of this gravel pit. It should be further noted that the grav-
el deposit is directly adjacent to the Don Quixote Ditch and within several
hundred yards of Cummings Gulch. However, the mining activities should in
no way disturb the ditch or the natural drainage nearby.
Thoma A.
