PAGES <br />1.6 ENTERING DATA <br />All the procedures of the program receive data in the same way: by prompting you for the necessary <br />data on the screen. one item at a time. The item Ls htghllghted, and the cursor (the flashing bar) <br />Ls located on the DEFAULT VALUE, which 1s the value which the program well use ff you don't <br />enter a new one to replace it. The values which you type in are used as Default Values !f you <br />repeat the operation without leaving the program. You can use the HackSpace key (on the top <br />right of your keyboard) to erase any mistakes you make before you press the ©]rey. You can also <br />press the s~= key at any time to immediately return to the MAIN MENU. <br />1.6.1 GETTING HELP DURING DATA ENTRY <br />Instant help >s avallable at all times during data entry. Pmssing the ei key on the upper left <br />comer of your keyboard will cause each of the HYDROCALCm Hydraulics programs to display a box <br />containing guidance on entering the required data. Figure I-4 illustrates the "help window" which <br />is displayed ff you press a>, while entering the side slope for a trapezoidal channel. As shown, the <br />"help window" provides a more detailed explanation of the required Input data and list9 range of <br />allowable values Cor the input data. <br />Flgure 1-4 Example of Data Entry'Help Window' <br />The programs In HYDROCALC° Hydraulip check each input data value to assure that reasonable <br />values have been entered. This checking process occurs after all the data values have been entered <br />for a particular procedure. If any of the data values entered for a particular procedure are not <br />within the acceptable range speciffed !n the "help windows", then the program displays an error <br />message.
