• Following the removal of the structures and the foundations, dozers or
graders will be used, where necessary, to reshape the area to produce a
surface similar to the pre-mining topography. Equipment will leave the
surface in a rough or furrowed condition along the contour. Smooth
compacted surfaces will be avoided to reduce the erosion and subsequent
sedimentation problems.
The final gradirg will be done along the contour by dozers and motor
graders. The final surface grade will match the overall approximate
pre-mining grade. The proposed final surface configuration is shown on
the Post-Mining Topography Map (Map 14).
As discussed under the responses to the questions regarding 2.04.9 and
question 26 regarding topsoil, set forth above, Peerless Resources, Inc.
has delineated two (2) locations for use as topsoil substitute or plant
growth medium following completion of mining activities. These two (2)
locations are designated on the Mine Facilities Map (Map 12).
Information gathered in accordance with the questions on section 2.04.9
indicates that this soil material will provide a good plant growth
medium. Likewise, Peerless Resources, Inc. estimates that approximately
l0,OD0 to 15,000 cubic yards of this material is available for use in
reclamation activities. Therefore, there should be sufficient plant
growth material to place 6 to 12 inches of this material over the area
affected by the surface facilities of the planned Coal Gulch Mine.
Revegetation the direction of the Division, Peerless Resources, Inc.
will plan to mulch at a rate of two tons per acre on all reclaimed
surface sites and will crimp the mulch.
During the first normal period for planting after the area has
been regraded and the mulch spread, the actual seeding of the area will
take place.
The proposed seed mixture, as shown in Table 7, Proposed Seed Mixture,
contains the diversity essential for ecological site stability. On the
areas to be disturbed by the surface facilities, reclamation will take
• place following the conclusion of mining activities. The revegetation
will be conducted during the first normal planting season following
2.05-29 nAR 0 4 1986
