',leaver was a stone contractor in <br />the Denver and F.a.stea-n Colo, area. <br />During 'yYorld "~Yar II there ~7as no activity in the stone quarries. <br />Shortly after ;7o r1~. ~Yar II i.:r. ,Yea.ver made arranPements to <br />quarry near N;ason~-i11e Colorado. He .gas the prime supplier o.f the <br />:leaver, Loveland Va11~r Bufz & grey stone. <br />During the gear 1953 Leonard and Reino Loukonen put in <br />a retail and wholesale Bard nsar Lyons, Colorado. <br />14ir. heaver supplied the buff stone to be sold at Lyons. <br />P:iany architects specified the 17eaver stone on the jobs in <br />Colorado and Nebraska. <br />Ia the latter 1950'x, Art Olin got equipment and started <br />his quarry on his own land, During this time the Loveland Valley <br />buff and grey stone was very popular, Mr. Olin produced stone and <br />slabs for many buyers. <br />6:r. 'Heaver also installed equipment to process the st;orie. <br />L:;r. "Weaver's health failed in the I960's and i:;rs.. Alice "Heaver <br />operated the quarry for many years. After iVlrs. 'Heaver passed away <br />the property was sold to 1lyoming people in the mid 1970'x. They <br />operated till 1981 when they sold the operation to Leonard and <br />Reino Loukonen. They operated the quarry just to get special pieces <br />they could`nt buy from other producers to this day. <br />The Olin Quarry is now operated by Dave Bacon and Glenn <br />Southwick. They have equinraent to handle and process stone. <br />Thep are one of the lart_er sunvliers to the Loukonen sales yard. <br />The quarries operatinY; in.Loi!eland are all interrelated <br />as they produce for the whole United States and Canada market of <br />this type of stave. <br />Neil & Judy Sprague operated at Carter Lake many years. <br />They moved near b;asonville and built there home and put in a <br />sales yard and scale facilitate the sale of the Loveland valley <br />stone. They are the largest pro~3»ecr a.t the p.r.esent time.
