~f,
c. The arithmetic mean of the total suspended solids shall not exceed
forty (40) milligrams per liter when averaged over any three (3)
consecutive samples.
2. If the effiuent dischazge is made into the atmosphere or upon the Bound
surface in an area so restricted as to protect against the likelihood of direct
human contact with the discharge effluent, the effiuent at the point of
sampling shall meet each of the following standards:
a. The geometric mean of the fecal coliform density shalt not exceed five
hundred (500} per one hundred (100} milliiiters when averaged over
any five (5) consecutive samples, and no single sample shall exceed
five thousand (5,000} fecal colifotm per one hundred (I00) milliliters.
b. The arithmetic mean of the standard five (5) day Biochemical Oxygen
Detnand (BODs) shall not exceed twemy (20) milligrams per liter
when averaged over arty three (3) consecutive samples.
c. The arithmetic mean of the total suspended solids shall not exceed
forty (40) milligrams per liter when averaged over any three (3)
consecutive samples.
If effiuem discharge is made beneath the surface of the ground and dischazge
will not be made through suitable soil, either existing or constructed, or
through a sand filter, the foiowing standazd shall be met:
a. There shall be at least four (4) feet of soil between the maximum
seasonal high water table and the level of effiuent discharge.
b. The arithmetic mean of the standard five (5) day Biochemical Oxygen
Demand (HODS) shall not exceed sixty (60) milligrams per liter when
averaged over any three (3) consecutive samples.
c. The arithmetic mean of the total suspended solids shall not exceed one
hundred (100) milligrams per liter when averaged over any three (3)
consecutive samples.
4. To determine compliance with the standazds in this section, samples shall be
at Least taken once per week but no more frequently than once per day.
D. Methods of Analysis - SamQlin¢ Points:
All effluent samples shall be analyzed according to the methods prescribed in the
current edition of "Standazd Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater"
(American Public Health Association). Copies of the analytical methods allowed may
be obtained, upon request from the I.S.D.S. Program Coordinator, Colorado
52
