.,
B) None of the following conditions shall be suitable for soil absorption systems unless
acceptable mitigation measures aze designed by a professional engineer.
I. Where the soil percolation rate is slower than one (1) inch in sixty (60)
minutes or faster than one (1) inch in five (5) minutes except that a
percolation rate faster than one (1) inch in five (5) minutes in soils of sandy
texture maybe permitted, or the percolation may be slowed by soil treatment.
2. Where the maximum seasonal level of the groundwater table is less than fow
(4) feet below the bottom of the proposed absorption system.
3. Where bedrock exists less than fow (4}feet below the bottom of the proposed
absorption system
4. Where the ground slope is in excess of thirty (30) percent.
C. Soil building, terracing or soil replacement will be permtted to bring the soil within
the requirements of suitable soil.
D. Absorption Area Formulas:
1. Trench Systems:
Absorption area in square feet (A) for an individual sewage disposal system
utilizing absorption trenches shall be determined as a function of the design
flow of sewage in gallons per day, (~ and the percolation rate in minutes per
inch, (t), according to the formula:
~` c ~`r~
2. Bed Systems:
Absorption area in square feet (A) for an individual sewage disposal system
utilizing absorption Seld(s) shall be determined as a function of the design
flow of sewage in gallons per day, (Q), and the percolation rate in mirwtes per
inch (t), according to the formula:
A C~3X~')(~)
Note: Where the percolation rate is found to be faster than &ve (5) minutes
per inch in soils of sandy texture, the minimum value of the "t" for use in this
38
