In locations where groundwater may cause instability problems to the septic" ' " <br />tank, pumping chamber, vauh, or other tanks m the individual sewage disposal <br />system due to IIotation, the tank shall be anchored in a sufficient manner in <br />order to provide stability when the tank is empty. The method of anchoring <br />must be approved by the local health officer or hisllrer desienated <br />representative prior to installation The local authority may require the design <br />ofthe anchoring system to be prepared by a Registered Professional Engineer. <br />9. Accessibilityfor Infection and Maintenance: <br />Each treatment unit shall be equipped with an access manhole located to <br />permit periodic physical inspection, collection and testing of samples and <br />maintenance of all components and wmpartments includmg but not limited to <br />submerged beatings, wing parts, tubes, intakes, slots, fibers, inlet and outlet <br />baffles, and other devices. <br />10. Indicators of Failrue for Svstetns Utilizing Mechanical Apparatus: <br />A signal device shall be installed which w~71 provide a recognizable indication <br />or warning to the user that the system or component is not operating or is <br />operating but malfunctioning. This udication or warning shall be in the form <br />of a visual or audrble signal, or both. <br />11. Serviceability: <br />Components shall be so designed and constructed that when installed in <br />accordance with manufacturer's recommendations, they shall be capable of <br />being easily maintained, sampled, drained, pumped, inspected and cleaned. <br />12. Sampling Access: <br />Where a required final effiuent sample cannot be easily obtained, a sampling <br />well shall be constructed. The sampling well shall be accessible and provided <br />with a properly secured cover. <br />13. Instructions: <br />The manufacturer shall provide clear, concise instructions covering the unit <br />which, when followed, wr11 assure proper installation and safe and satisfactory <br />operation. <br />14. Surface Activity: <br />The surface of the groin over the individual sewage disposal system or any <br />part thereof, must be restricted to activity or use which will allow the system <br />to fiurction as designed and which will not contnbute to compaction of the soft <br />nor to structural loading detrimental to the capability of the component to <br />function as designed. <br />32 <br />
